Identity Sculpture
|
This is the sculpture that I created to represent part of my identity. The sculpture is of a worm peeking out of an apple, the symbol of a bookworm. I created this sculpture by making and sticking two pinch pots together, and shaping them into somewhat of an apple shape. Then I welded on the stem and the worm onto the surface of the apple. As an avid reader, I looked for a symbol to represent myself, coming to the bookworm. Since it was too hard to make a big worm by itself, I opted to make a small one sticking out of an apple instead. The goal of this piece was to make a sculpture that represented one aspect of my identity. I thought that I could have shaped the apple better. Many parts of the surface are uneven, and do not look like the surface of an apple at all. I could have also added more detail to the worm, such as a hat or glasses, to make it more clear on what kind of worm it is. In order to learn from this experience, I will remember to improve on details and work on shaping.
